Iggy Pop and Josh Homme have announced a one-time-only, digital screening of their documentary American Valhalla, set for Monday, March 30th at 3 p.m. ET. In the announcement, Pop shared his hopes that this screening would encourage people to remain in quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

American Valhalla came about when punk forefather Pop teamed up with Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Homme to record 2016’s Post Pop Depression. Also involved in the album was Homme’s Queens of the Stone Age bandmate Dean Fertita, in addition to drummer Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys.

“We are very dedicated to make sure you stay at home,” Pop said in the announcement on Instagram. “Therefore we have treat for you on Monday. One and only screening of American Valhalla!”

The film chronicles the inception of the Post Pop Depression project, including the formation of what became “the Post Pop Depression band.” From the first early demos recorded in the California desert, all the way to the album’s release and out on the road for sold-out American and European tours, American Valhalla captured it all. The film culminates with unseen footage from the band’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

“American Valhalla is a crown jewel of this once-in-a-life-time kind of a project,” a statement said. “Featuring stunning cinematography, insightful interviews and access all areas footage, the film reveals just what is means to know that if you risk nothing, you gain nothing, no matter who you are.”

Despite Pop’s adamant pleas to get people to stay home, he is still scheduled to play shows in Europe next month. On April 7th, Pop is slated to perform at Le Silo in Marseille, FR, and then proceed on with two more gigs over the next week in France and Monaco. Stay tuned to his website for any  tour updates.
