In a recently released video interview, Jack Stratton of Vulfpeck sat down with interviewer Allegra Rosenberg for a “State of the Vulf Union” address. The interview starts off with the progress the band has made over the past year or so, including their meteoric rise in popularity over recent months and how that affects their live show. While the pair discusses a number of topics, ranging from the more administrative, behind-the-scenes workings of Vulfpeck to the way the group approaches both live performances, collaborations, and the studio, one of the biggest takeaways from the interview is Stratton’s hints about what to expect from Vulfpeck’s upcoming studio effort due out in the fall.
After revealing on Instagram recently that James Gadson and David T. Walker were in the studio to record with the band, Stratton confirmed these names, in addition to revealing that Bootsy Collins will make an appearance on the new album. Stratton also drops the names Michael Bland, the drummer for Prince during The New Power Generation era, Danish vocalist Coco O, and more. He also notes that Joey Dosik will be featured on the new album, singing for the first time on a Vulfpeck album in addition to his saxophone contributions.
