On Sunday, rockstar Jack White performed at a rally for 2020 U.S. Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders at Detroit, MI’s Cass Technical High School. White—both a Detroit native and Cass Tech graduate—was presented with a unique opportunity to support Bernie in a city that means so much to him.

White addressed the crowd by saying, “Bernie Sanders is telling the truth, and I really do trust him,” and added that he supports Sanders’ promise to abolish the electoral college — “the reason we’re in the mess we’re in now.”

White and his backing band kicked off their musical performance with a mashup of Jack’s solo tune “Corporation” and The White Stripes’ favorite “Icky Thump”. The band continued with The White Stripes cuts “Black Math”, “We’re Going To Be Friends”, and “Seven Nation Army”, White’s solo tune “Connected By Love”, and a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “License To Kill”.
