Despite playing a pivotal role in the band’s formation, guitarist Jackie Greene has announced his departure from the rock and roll collective, Trigger Hippy. The group, comprised of Black Crowes’ drummer Steve Gorman, singer Joan Osborne, bassist Nick Gorvik and guitarist Tom Bukovac, will certainly miss Greene’s unique style and stage presence.

Citing his solo career for the decision, Greene offers his Hippy companions all the best. Greene will release his first solo album in five years, Back To Birth, on August 21st. Here’s his message, posted to his Facebook page, below:

It’s been a great pleasure playing with a Trigger Hippy the past few years, but I must call it quits. My first album in five years is right around the corner and I must focus my attention on that. I am no longer a member of Trigger Hippy.

I will not be at the Full Tilt Boogie Festival in VT, but I’m sure it will be a great time and I sincerely hope everyone enjoys themselves.

Thanks to all who came out and supported us over the past few years, we really appreciate it.

We’re wishing Jackie Greene and Trigger Hippy all the best!
