On Sunday, December 31st, The James Brown Dance Party will ring in 2018 at New York City’s Gramercy Theatre proper. Dubbed “the funkiest all-star tribute in show business,” the high-octane funk act led by The Chase Brothers, Adam and Matthew Chase (Jazz is PHSH), features a rotating cast of prolific all-star musicians whose goal is to keep the spirit-lifting music of James Brown alive and well. For this double-header New Year’s Eve, the band will be offering up two back-to-back shows on the 31st, which will feature the likes of Fred Thomas (James Brown, The JBs), Mousey Thompson (James Brown), Amy Christian (James Brown), Jay Rodriguez (Prince), Maurice Brown (Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Roots), and more.

Today, the act keeps the good news coming with the announcement of even more high-profile musicians who will be joining the group on December 31st. Chris Rob (Talib Kweli), Daru Jones (Jack White), Marcus Machado (Jamie Lidell), Tony Markellis (Trey Anastasio Band) will join an already super-impressive lineup for The James Brown Dance Party.

The James Brown Dance Party’s first show on December 31st, which also features support from The Fritz, gets started early at 8 pm. However, the band will keep the funky tunes coming into the early morning, as the James Brown Dance Party will also be laying out a late-night performance that will also function as a special Phish After-Party starting at 1:30 am. Previous years have proved that the James Brown Dance Party is one act you don’t want to miss, especially on New Year’s Eve! Tickets are currently available for the 9 pm show here and the 1:30 am show here.
