[UPDATE 3/13/23]: Jamie Lee Curtis just won the first Oscar of her 40-plus year career, but she still doesn’t have the time for concerts that start at 9 p.m. The 64-year-old actress took home the Academy Award for “Actress In A Supporting Role” at Sunday’s ceremony for her work in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Last week while walking the red carpet at Independent Spirit Awards, Curtis went viral for her call to artists like Coldplay, U2, and Bruce Springsteen to perform matinee concerts. After the posts caught traction online with fans young and old, Curtis—like a fan yelling “Free Bird” at a concert between every song—doubled down on her requests with an interview on Today. Check out the full story below.

[3/9/23]: If the thought of staying out all night just to see your favorite band has you yawning already, then Jamie Lee Curtis is your knight in silver-haired armor as she leads the call for matinee concerts.

The 64-year-old Oscar-nominated actress has found followers young and old who share her desire for afternoon concerts. During a recent red carpet interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Everything Everywhere All At Once star specifically called on ColdplayU2, and Bruce Springsteen to all start their concerts earlier so she can get home and get to bed.

“I am gonna just say this now as a taunt and as a suggestion: U2, do a matinee,” she said. “Coldplay, do a matinee. What about a 12-noon concert, Coldplay? What about it?”

She then turned her attention to the Boss, who is famous for his marathon concerts that can run for nearly four hours.

“Bruce Springsteen: do a fucking matinee! You’re old!” She exclaimed. “Why wouldn’t you let me come see you, Bruce Springsteen, in your glory days—pun intended—and do it at noon or 1 o’clock? Two o’clock! Two o’clock matinee! Theatre in New York, 2 o’clock! I will come and hear your five-hour concert, Bruce, at 2 o’clock, and I’m gonna be home and in bed by 7:30 [p.m.]”

Curtis had herself an all-out Larry David diatribe on the red carpet, revealing that she turned down a private dinner for Academy Award nominees because it didn’t start until 7:30 p.m. The actress up for her first-ever Oscar later revealed that she will not accept an invitation for any dinner past 5 p.m.

“Because mommy goes to bed early,” she said. “‘Cause 7:30 is gonna be 9 before we get food and you know what? There’s nothing good happening to me after 9 o’clock. Nothing. Zero.”

After her comments went viral on TikTok, Curtis appeared on Today, issuing a challenge to bands, bookers, and venues across the country.

“For instance, I love Coldplay. I would love to go see Coldplay,” she said. “The problem is I’m not gonna go see Coldplay if they start their show at 9 o’clock and there’s an opening act. I want to hear Coldplay at 1:00 p.m. I think if we filled a stadium of people who want to see a matinee of Coldplay, I think we would start a trend.”
