Janelle Monáe was the featured musical guest on Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the popular singer and actress delivered a scorching, pre-filmed rendition of her 2020 single, “Turntables”.

Released last September, “Turntables” was featured in the 2020 documentary All In: The Fight for Democracy, which chronicled politician Stacey Abrams along her journey for better voting-rights in Monáe’s home state of Georgia ahead of the 2020 elections.

Monáe’s pro-shot performance on Tuesday’s episode saw the singer strap on an electric guitar for the climactic, fan-less performance. Filmed inside what looks to be some darkened, empty warehouse-like setting, Monáe and her backing band delivered a high-energy take on the song with Monáe leading the way while riding that charismatic presence of hers that unapologetically demands the attention of viewers.
