The hits keep on coming for Jane’s Addiction, as the alternative rock act announced it will miss five shows on its joint tour with The Smashing Pumpkins. This news comes after Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro revealed he would miss the entire Spirits on Fire Tour due to his continuing battle with long COVID.

This latest setback is the result of a recent injury frontman Perry Farrell suffered after the band’s show at Madison Square Garden last week. The unspecified injury left Farrell unable to perform, forcing the band to cancel its appearance in Philadelphia on Friday. In a statement posted to the band’s social media on Monday, Farrell offered a health update and also canceled the band’s appearances in Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City. Our Lady Peace will fill in on the Canadian dates.

The tour so far has been an absolute blast. Filled with so much joy and rock vibes. I’ve loved seeing all your faces, hearing you sing with us and feeling the love and energy from each and every one of you.

Especially all the people from my generation, and there’s been a lot of youngsters I have enjoyed speaking to. Good times.

I’d like to address a lot of the comments and give you all an update.

After Madison Square Garden on Wednesday [October 19th], I suffered an injury that resulted in my inability to perform. I have been in pain and discomfort and have been receiving rigorous physio therapy that has done wonders.

Due to doctors orders, we regrettably and forcibly have to cancel the following shows: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, as well as Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City.

This beleaguered tour has derailed what should have marked a joyous reunion for the original Jane’s Addiction lineup following bassist Eric Avery‘s return to the group. Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens Of The Stone Age, Eagles Of Death Metal) has been subbing in on guitar for Navarro, who continues to experience lingering symptoms from a bout of COVID he had last December.
