Janet, the forthcoming Janet Jackson documentary, has shared its official trailer in anticipation of its 2022 release date. The new film will premiere on January 28th via A&E and Lifetime.

Arriving as a two-part, four-hour documentary, Janet will provide viewers with rare and unique insight into Jackson’s life and historic music career. Typically a closed book, the international pop star, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, and five-time Grammy Award winner will open up because, as she puts it in the trailer, “It’s just something that needs to be done.” Janet will focus on Jackson’s early life growing up in Gary, IN, her infamous wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl XXXVIII Half Time Show, her relationship with her brother Michael Jackson, and everything in between.

The 3:20 trailer released by Lifetime on Saturday highlights just some of the all-star talent interviewed for this documentary. It includes appearances by Missy Elliot, Tyler Perry, Mariah Carey, Samuel L. Jackson, Janelle Monae, Whoopi Goldberg, Teyana Taylor, and more. In addition to these exclusive interviews, the Ben Hirsch-directed documentary will also feature never-before-seen footage from Jackson’s childhood and ensuing musical career.

Executive produced by Janet Jackson and her brother Randy Jackson, Janet will premiere this January 28th on Lifetime and A&E, the anniversary of her 1982, self-titled debut album. Check out the official trailer below and head here for more information.
