Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, just added to their facilities with a little help from musical power couple Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires. On Wednesday, the NFL franchise announced the launch of the new Isbell-Shires KultureCity Sensory Room at Nissan Stadium.

The new area will serve guests who have sensory sensitivities or challenges regulating stimuli like loud noises, which are a critical element of Titans home games at the Nashville stadium. Sensory difficulties are often experienced by those with autism, dementia, PTSD, and other similar conditions.

“Amanda and I are happy to work alongside KultureCity to encourage acceptance and inclusion in public spaces like sporting events and businesses,” Isbell said. “Individuals with autism and specific sensory needs and their families should feel welcome wherever they go. The work of the KultureCity family is making that possible.”

The room was specially designed by medical professionals to care for the needs of those who struggle with sensory sensitivities. Included in the room—located in the north endzone of Nissan Stadium—are bean bag chairs, visual light panels, activity panels, bubble walls, and a custom tactile artwork created by an artist with autism.

“The sensory room is a game-changer for us in that we now have physical space for those individuals to feel safe and secure in the event of a sensory overload,” said Gil Beverly, Titans Sr. Vice President, Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer. “We’re proud to be the first Nashville sports venue to provide this space and hope it’s the first of many in our community.”

Prior to attending the game, those who experience sensory challenges and their families can download the free KultureCity app to see what sensory features are offered at the stadium. Also available is a complimentary sensory sensitivity bag which includes noise-canceling earplugs, verbal cue cards, fidget tools, and weighted lap pads.
