Jason Isbell closed out 2020 with a return to the stage alongside his backing band The 400 Unit at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville on New Year’s Eve. Following the pay-per-view livestream, Isbell released a live album of the concert for Bandcamp Friday’s last month. Now, the Alabama-bred, Nashville-based singer-songwriter is letting fans relive his 12/31/20 concert with a pair of videos from the show.

Shared on Wednesday, the two clips feature Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit tackling “Overseas” and “Dreamiscle”. Both songs come from the group’s acclaimed 2020 album, Reunions, and the New Year’s Eve renditions marked the live debuts for both tracks.

The band’s NYE stream also featured the live debuts of six other track from the new album including “Running With Our Eyes Closed”, “It Gets Easier”, “Only Children”, “Letting You Go”, “Be Afraid”, and the show-closing “What’ve I Done To Help”. On May 15th, 2020—the day Reunions was released—Isbell and his wife/bandmate Amanda Shires took the stage at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville—the first artists to ever do so—to perform the album cover to cover.

These two videos capture Isbell and The Unit throwing their full weight behind the tracks, as the complete lineup of bassist Jimbo Hart, guitarist Sadler Vaden, drummer Chad Gamble, and keyboardist Derry deBorja captures the full-band energy found on the Reunions studio tracks. Throughout the pandemic, Isbell and Shires had been teaming up for acoustic duo performances—in addition to recruiting pianist Peter Levin for the I So Lounging livestream series—and the New Year’s Eve stream served as a joyous reunion for the band.
