Famed rock photographer Jay Blakesberg has detailed his new hardcover photo book, Jerry Garcia: Secret Space Of Dreams, due out on October 15th.

The forthcoming book will include 208-pages filled with black-and-white photos captured by Blakesberg over the years, from 1978 until Jerry Garcia’s death in 1995. In addition to featuring photographs of the Grateful Dead’s beloved guitarist, Secret Space Of Dreams will also include a forward penned by Dead & Company guitarist John Mayer, an afterword written by Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools, an introduction from SiriusXM‘s Tales from the Golden Road co-host David Gans, an essay by Jerry’s daughter Trixie Garcia, and a variety of quotes from Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, Bob Dylan, Trey Anastasio, Carlos Santana, Jim James, David Crosby, Robert Hunter, Jorma Kaukonen, and more.

“I’ve always said that musicians play like they are, and in the case of Garcia, his performances serve as a detailed map of a man, his intentions, his desires, and his impressions of the world around him,” Mayer explains in the forward. “And going by that map, Garcia was a lovely, mighty soul. I never met him and will never understand the loss of those who did, but the vast archive of his music amounts to the makings of a starry night sky that turns listeners into explorers.”
