On Sunday, the official festivities for New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival at the Fairgrounds officially came to a close. It’s sad to see an end to one of the best times of the year for us, with the officially planned Jazz Fest performances drawing a diverse offering of some of the largest names in music, while outside the festival, New Orleans is taken over with world-renowned musicians who create special musical moments whose magic cannot be repeated outside the Big Easy.

For yesterday’s daytime performance for the final Sunday of Jazz Fest ended with a bang. Among the many performers that helped close out this special time of year were King of Leon, and two of our favorite funk acts, Trombone Shorty and The Meters. Luckily, photographer Dave Vann was there to soak in the music, and thanks to him, we can check out up-close-and-personal photos of the wonderful performances that heralded in the end of this year’s Jazz Fest.
