Impulse! Records will celebrate six decades of releasing some of America’s most widely-acclaimed jazz records with a mix of 60th-anniversary special releases, the label announced on Friday.

Branded as Impulse 60! the year-long campaign will see the legendary label release a variety of rare and never-before-heard recordings from John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane, Quincy Jones, and more; unreleased live recordings; high-fidelity reissues of seminal albums; and brand new music from the label’s current roster of artists.

The first celebratory release will be Impulse! Records: Music, Message & The Moment, a 4LP/2CD box set containing records from Quincy Jones, Alice and John Coltrane, Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders, Albert Ayler, and more, due out May 14th. Also included in the box set will be a magazine-style booklet containing the original Impulse! advertisements and artists promo photographs, along with an Impulse! vinyl slipmat. Other planned anniversary releases include Turiya Sings, an album of devotional music from Alice Coltrane that hadn’t received a wide release until now, due out this summer, along with a vinyl reissue of a 1968 Thelonious Monk live album that will arrive exclusively on Record Store Day in June.

Additionally, the label’s 60th-anniversary celebration also includes a new album-focused video series. The first episode of the series highlights John Coltrane’s seminal 1965 album, A Love Supreme, as narrated by American writer/musician Greg Tate. Watch the episode below.
