Special guests have been announced for J.E.D.I. (Jazz Electronic Dance Improvisation), the Jazz Fest late-night show set to take place at Frenchmen Street’s the Maison on Sunday, April 29th in New Orleans. The show, spearheaded by Brazilian Girls and David Byrne drummer Aaron Johnston, and featuring a formidable lineup that includes bassist Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits, keyboardist Borahm Lee of Break Science and Pretty Lights Live Band, and tenor saxophonist Ryan Zoidis of Lettuce, will now include guest appearances by guitar virtuoso Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds and soulful vocalist Shira Elias of Turkuaz.
These new special guests promise to bring their own style and flavor to this unique New Orleans-version of J.E.D.I. Roberts is a seasoned Jazz Fest veteran and one of the go-to guitar players in today’s modern live music community. He has played numerous times with Brownstein, Zoidis, and Lee in his hometown of Denver, Colorado, and will be sure to fit right in as a result.
Elias has been making a name for herself as a versatile and passionate vocalist in recent years, performing with Turkuaz, as well as with Ivan Neville, and in a variety of super-jams across the country. Her addition to this lineup, along with Roberts and fellow special guest Eric “Benny” Bloom of Lettuce, cements J.E.D.I. as one of the can’t-miss late-night sets at this year’s New Orleans Jazz Festival.
