The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration will return in June 2022 for an early 80th birthday party for the late Grateful Dead guitarist. The concert will take place at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on June 29th.

On tap for this latest symphonic celebration are Garcia’s former Jerry Garcia Band bandmates, organist Melvin Seals and vocalist Jacklyn LaBranch. Also are on tap are Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools and drummer Duane Trucks, as well as Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist/vocalist Tom Hamilton.

“Some birthdays are just too big to wait to celebrate! With the world set to celebrate Jerry’s 80th in August, we’ve decided to let the good times roll a little bit early this year,” an announcement of the concert reads.

Joining these Dead-centric musicians will be a 65-piece orchestra, adding new depth to the lineup’s exploration of Garcia’s extensive songbook. The symphonic celebration tradition began in 2013 when Warren Haynes took up Garcia’s custom Doug Irwin-designed custom guitar Wolf for a tour of shows. More celebrations followed in the proceeding years—with more of Jerry’s famous instruments in tow—including a one-night-only extravaganza at Red Rocks with Warren playing alongside Jeff Sipe (drums), Lincoln Schleifer (bass), Jasmine Muhammad (vocals), and LaBranch.

A limited number of pre-sale tickets will be available on Thursday, March 24th, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. MT, accessible using the code “JERRY80”. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 25th at 10 a.m. MT. For tickets and more information visit the event website.
