The Jerry Garcia Foundation has announced the coming release of a new compilation album, My Sisters and Brothers, out on Wednesday, August 5th via the organization’s OnlyLove Records on major streaming platforms.

The release comes in the midst of the “Days Between,” the period celebrated by Deadheads each year during the window between Jerry Garcia’s birth in 1942 (August 1st) and death in 1995 (August 9th). This year’s “Days Between” take on an added air of significance, as August 9th, 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of Jerry’s death.

According to the collection’s announcement, all streaming proceeds from sales and streams of My Sisters and Brothers will support the Jerry Garcia Foundation’s OnlyLove Relief Fund, which has been designated to assist in COVID-19 relief. Beneficiaries of the foundation’s OnlyLove Relief Fund include MusiCaresWhyHunger, and the IBMA Relief Fund, an affiliate of the International Bluegrass Music Association. In addition to the music, a giclée print of Jerry’s “California Mission” watercolor painting will be available for online auction on the Charity Buzz website. The painting was used as album cover art for this project. An art booklet, complete with liner notes and a Jesse Jarnow-penned “liner-notes story,” “The Magnificent Sanctuary Band,” will be available at the Terrapin Gallery. All proceeds benefit OnlyLove Relief Fund.

“Music heals,” said a spokesperson for the Jerry Garcia Foundation along with the compilation’s announcement. “It has the potential to lift our spirits and connect us with one another. It is our hope that this music will bring comfort where needed.”

My Sisters and Brothers, compiled for release by Joe Gastwirt Mastering, features musical personnel from the various incarnations of the Jerry Garcia Band from 1976 to 1990. Band personnel information was generously provided by Joe Jupille, University of Colorado social sciences professor and Jerry Garcia scholar.

Filmmaker Justin Kreutzmann, the son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, also contributed his video for “The Wheel” to the project to complement the compilation album’s fist track.
