[UPDATE 1/31/23]: Talking Heads veterans Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew will continue their celebration of the band’s landmark 1980 album Remain In Light with the addition of 18 new tour dates. Many of the concerts will see Harrison, Belew, and backing band Cool Cool Cool (featuring former Turkuaz members) sharing the bill with Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade.

After concluding the first leg of their tour on March 11th in New Haven, CT, Harrison and Belew will hit the festival circuit for sets at Golden Road GatheringMill Valley Music Festival, and Riverbend Music Festival. Cool Cool Cool, the new project featuring seven of nine members of Turkuaz (several of whom also perform in the Remain In Light backing band alongside Julie Slick on bass and Yahuba Garcia-Torres on percussion), will also serve as the opening act on the majority of the tour’s dates.

In June, Jerry, Adrian, and the Remain In Light crew will join up with Les Claypool’s newly reactivated Fearless Flying Frog Brigade for that project’s first tour since 2003. The lineup for the reunited unit includes Sean Lennon on guitar, Harry Waters on keys, and Paolo Baldi on drums, along with Skerik on saxophone and Mike Dillon on percussion. [11/1/22]: Talking Heads veterans Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew have announced a 2023 Remain In Light tour featuring Cool Cool Cool as both their backing band and their nightly opening act. Harrison and Belew’s running Remain In Light shows pay homage to Talking Heads’ celebrated 1980 LP of the same name, on which they are both featured.

The 2023 tour is set to begin in February with a run of Colorado shows (2/16 in Denver, 2/17 in Boulder, 2/18 in Beaver Creek) before making its way to Oklahoma City, OK (2/21); St. Louis, MO (2/22); Minneapolis, MN (2/24); Chicago, IL (2/25); Indianapolis, IN (2/26); Akron, OH (2/27); and Buffalo, NY (2/28).

Jerry Harrison, Adrian Belew, and Cool Cool Cool will move into March with shows in Toronto, ON (3/2); Pittsburgh, PA (3/3); Baltimore, MD (3/4); and Sayreville, NJ (3/5) before closing the tour with a run of five East Coast shows in five days featuring stops in Philadelphia, PA (3/7); Albany, NY (3/8); New York, NY (3/9); Boston, MA (3/10); and New Haven, CT (3/11).

Harrison and Belew first reunited to perform material from Remain In Light at the 2021 edition of The Peach Music Festival with nine-piece funk-rock outfit Turkuaz as their backing band. In November 2021—in the midst of a tour with Harrison and Belew—seven members of Turkuaz collectively announced their departure from the group, throwing future Remain In Light dates into question. The seven former Turkuaz members went on to form a new band, Cool Cool Cool, which debuted at Brooklyn Comes Alive in September and has served as the backing band for various 2022 Remain In Light gigs including recent performances at Los Angeles, CA’s The Wiltern and San Francisco, CA’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. “’Remain In Light’ is a high point in my career,” said Jerry Harrison in a statement. “Adrian and I had often discussed the magic of the 1980 tour and the sheer joy it brought to audiences. It is such a delight to see that joy once again in the audiences on the current tour.”

“A joyful show of Talking Heads songs you know and love performed by a hot, eleven-piece ensemble including Jerry and me,” Belew added of the Remain In Light tour. “You can’t help but dance and go home with a happy smile on your face.”

Pre-sale tickets for the 2023 Jerry Harrison & Adrian Belew Remain In Light tour featuring Cool Cool Cool go on sale Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:00 a.m. local venue time. A very limited number of “Once In A Lifetime” Meet & Greet VIP Experiences (including VIP entry, pre-show hangs and a Q&A with Jerry and Adrian, a signed poster, and more) will be available during the pre-sale period.

Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. local time. For complete ticketing details, head here. Click below for a full list of tour dates and venues.
