My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, conductor Teddy Abrams, and the Louisville Orchestra are gearing up to release their collaborative album, The Order Of Nature, which is due out on October 18th via Decca Gold. The forthcoming album will include previously unreleased new songs from James as well as re-imaginings from his solo catalog.

On Monday, James and Abrams announced a special performance at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge on October 20th, which will see the duo perform material from The Order of Nature, as well as reimagined renditions of James’ solo work.

James and Abrams debuted their project at Louisville Orchestra’s annual Festival Of American Music held at Kentucky Center For The Arts’ Whitney Hall in April 2018. James and Abrams will again offer up their orchestral show at Seattle, WA’s Benaroya Hall on May 12th, 2020 and Denver, CO’s Colorado Symphony on May 15th, 2020.

“The core idea to me is trying to reflect on the fact that nature doesn’t know how to hate,” James explained in a press statement. “Humans are part of nature obviously, but why do we have this thing called hatred and how do we get rid of it? We’re fighting nature and thinking we can prevail over nature, but we’re killing each other and killing the planet.”

Abrams added, “We’re really looking at addressing things head on. That was an interest of mine in working with Jim because he has a way of taking on challenging and divisive issues and presenting them in ways that everybody can relate to, even if you’re from different political backgrounds.”

A limited number of tickets for James and Abrams’ newly announced NYC show are now on sale here.
