After taking a two-and-a-half year hiatus following the release of six studio albums and the successful building of a vibrant, grassroots fanbase, Jimkata are back with a vibrant new single and accompanying visuals for “Wanna Go”.

Electro-rock three-piece Jimkata have released “Wanna Go”, their first official single since 2016, along with an artfully trippy music video. The new track narrates the negative effects of social media and considers the concept of “perception vs. reality” in an age when we all present an idealized version of ourselves to the world.

As the band explained in a press statement, “It took on an extra layer of meaning for us after the pandemic began and we all started quarantining, stuck in our houses and apartments, staring into our phones, longing for a different world and becoming overly acquainted with our immediate surroundings.”

Jimkata are a three-piece anthemic, synth-washed, electro-rock band based out of Ithaca and Los Angeles. With swirling analog synths, infectious pop hooks, candid lyrics and impressive live shows, Jimkata have built a distinct sound and widespread acclaim.

Friends since middle school, Evan Friedell, Aaron Gorsch, and Packy Lunn bring an adventurous musical streak and relatable lyrical themes to Jimkata (named after the so-bad-it’s-good 1985 gym-fu caper Gymkata). For more information about Jimkata, head to the band’s website.
