The thrilling sounds of progressive jazz filled the air inside New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl this past weekend as drummer Joe Russo rounded up a mix of his talented friends for a Sunday night performance of Jerry Garcia and Howard Wales‘ 1971 album, Hooteroll?
Billed as “HOOTEROLL? + PLUS!,” the all-star performance of the jazz-fusion album was part of NYC Winter Jazzfest and also featured a mix of select covers from Russo, Stuart Bogie, Erik Deutsch, Jonathan Goldberger, Dave Harrington, Kevin Kendrick, and Jordan McLean—the same cast of musicians that gathered at The Capitol Theatre in 2017 for the inaugural Hooteroll? celebration.
The performance was live-streamed via The Relix Channel for fans outside of New York City to enjoy from the comfort of their couches. Watch the opening portion of Sunday’s show via the webcast video below.
