There has been much speculation about whether Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s headlining performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre this Saturday with Medeski, Martin, & Wood would go on as planned. After the band released an announcement on their Facebook page on Tuesday noting that they were looking into different indoor venues ahead of the inclement weather predicted to roll through Colorado this weekend, the band has finally confirmed a move. As predicted, their Red Rocks performance will be moved to 1st Bank Center in Broomfield on Saturday, marking their first headlining arena show.
In a press release a representative of the band said, “We have looked at this from every angle and at this point, our weather & technical advisors have let us know that we most likely will not be able to load in the audio, lights or backline necessary to ensure that a we can play a show. We are not just looking at a situation that would be unpleasant for the audience, but are in a position where we can not guarantee that we will be able to make a show happen. The weather services, our promoter AEG Live Rocky Mountains, The City of Denver Theatres and Arenas and we all agree that this is the best course of action.”
The show times will be the same as were scheduled with Red Rocks, and can be seen below. All ticket will be considered general admission, and there are also a limited amount of tickets left for Almost Dead’s performance at 1st Bank, which can be purchased here. For fans who don’t want to make the trek to 1st Bank, refunds are available before 6:00 PM on Saturday at point of purchase.
There is good news however; The band has secured a new date to headline Red Rocks this summer on Thursday, August 31st, and tickets will go on sale May 12th. Unfortunately, Dave Dreiwitz will be on tour with Ween so Dead & CO’s Oteil Burbridge will be stepping in.  Many props to the folks over at Joe Russo’s Almost Dead for giving fans warning ahead of time of this change and making the hard decisions to ensure the show can go on.
