Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a one-night-only return to the band’s birthplace, Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl, on January 26th, 2022. In addition to stopping back at the Bowl, JRAD will spend the following three nights at another familiar haunt, Port Chester, NY’s The Capitol Theatre 1/27, 1/28, and 1/29.

The newly announced Brooklyn Bowl show will take the Grateful Dead tribute band back to the site of its first-ever show exactly ten years later. In addition to hosting the band’s first gig, which was initially planned as a one-off, the Brooklyn venue/bowling alley/restaurant served as an important incubator for the act. Over the ensuing years, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead returned for a series of extended runs as it grew from a local novelty into one of the biggest and most successful Dead tributes on the road. By early 2018, the band had grown out of the cozy confines of its “home court” and moved on to larger rooms, though a HeadCount benefit did bring Joe Russo (drums), Marco Benevento (keys), Scott Metzger (guitar/vocals), Dave Dreiwitz (bass), and Tom Hamilton (guitar/vocals) back for their 30th overall JRAD show at Brooklyn Bowl in November 2019.

The Capitol Theatre has also been a frequent stop for Joe Russo’s Almost Dead over the past decade. From the band’s Cap debut back in 2013 to a trio of livestream-only shows in October 2020, the band has racked up 22 performances at the beloved “rock palace.” The last time JRAD performed there with an in-person audience was on February 23rd, 2020, just a few weeks before the pandemic brought tours to a halt. Jimmy Fallon was there, too.
