Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will serve as host of its own curated festival at the LOCKN’ Farm August 13th–15th, 2021.
In addition to three nights of JRAD, the curated LOCKN’ Farm event will also feature the recently-reunited The Slip, as well as late-night improv sessions in Garcia’s Forest on Friday and Saturday hosted by John Medeski and Billy Martin.
The 2021 weekend event will mark the fifth time JRAD has journeyed to LOCKN’ Farm. Past JRAD sets at LOCKN’ have been brought numerous highlights, including Bob Weir “sit-ins” both musical and literal.
All those who purchased tickets to LOCKN’ 2021 will have their money refunded in full, including all service fees. The announcement of the 2021 LOCKN’ Farm Tedeschi Trucks weekend joins a pair of other mini-fest announcements from LOCKN’ organizers on Wednesday. In addition to the TTB-centric weekend, LOCKN’ Farm will also host a Tedeschi Trucks weekend featuring The Marcus King Band, Lettuce, Jon Batiste, and more (8/27–8/31) and a Goose weekend billed as Fred The Festival featuring Dawes, Cory Wong, Dr. Dog, and a number of Goose-adjacent acts (8/20–22).
The pivot from one larger, four-day festival to three smaller, artist-centered, three-day festivals came as a result of the rapidly-developing pandemic picture for concerts in the summer of 2021.
As LOCKN’ organizers Dayglo Presents explained in a statement,
We have had an amazing seven years together at LOCKN’ the music festival, with hundreds of thousands of fans from across the world witnessing countless epic performances and collaborations by hundreds of legendary artists, and a lot of fun along the way. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, LOCKN’ has created some of the most beautiful and magical live music memories.
In this moment, considering the challenges of COVID-19, we feel like it’s time to do something different, something intimate, something new. While preserving the spirit of our four-day festival, LOCKN’ will become a destination — LOCKN’ Farm — staying true to the core of what LOCKN’ has always been about — unforgettable, unique, and authentic live experiences.
