John Medeski is a busy man. The prolific pianist is one of the most renowned players in the live music scene, with countless projects under his belt spanning from Medeski, Martin & Wood, his long-running and critically acclaimed jazz-funk group with Billy Martin and Chris Wood, to Hudson, a relatively new project featuring iconic jazz artists including drummer Jack DeJohnette, guitarist John Scofield, and bassist Larry Grenadier.

Yesterday, John Medeski announced that another one of his many projects, John Medeski’s Mad Skillet, will mount its first-ever U.S. tour in November. Also featuring guitarist Will Bernard, sousaphonist Kirk Joseph, and drummer Terence Higgins, Mad Skillet was born out of the collaborative musical marathon that is New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Coming together during a late-night in 2015, the quartet has appeared multiple times at Jazz Fest in addition to touring across Europe in 2017.

For John Medeski’s Mad Skillet newly announced U.S. tour, the band will kick things off with a festival set at Burnet, Texas’ Utopiafest on November 3rd. From then until November 10th, the band will cross the Midwest, with performances in Grand Rapids, MI; Goshen, IN; Evanston, IL (two shows); Cincinnati, OH; and Kent, OH. For the second leg of the tour, the group will hit the Northeast, with a stop on November 11st at Buffalo Iron Works in Buffalo, New York.

After winding through Boston, Massachusetts, and Cohoes, New York, on November 13th and 14th, on November 15th, the group will land in New York City for a performance at Brooklyn Bowl, followed up by a show at Ardmore Music Hall the following night. To close out their fall tour, John Medeski’s Mad Skillet has scheduled performances at Washington, DC’s The Hamilton on November 17th before their tour-closing performance at the newly opened Asbury Lanes in New Jersey on November 18th.
