Phish drummer Jon Fishman will link up with Trey Anastasio Band for the group’s last four fall 2021 tour dates following regular TAB drummer Russ Lawton‘s positive COVID-19 test on Tuesday.

Anastasio announced the latest TAB tour lineup update in a social media post on Wednesday morning. “Starting tonight in Pittsburgh,” the note states, “Jon Fishman will join the Trey Anastasio Band for their remaining fall dates ending this Sunday at Radio City Music Hall. We wish both Russ Lawton and Jennifer Hartswick a fast recovery. Thank you for your continued support.”

Following Lawton’s positive test on Tuesday evening, Trey Anastasio played a solo acoustic show in place of a scheduled full-band performance in Columbus, OH. The switch-up was the latest in a long string of recent medically-imposed lineup changes for the outfit.

From the sudden passing of founding bassist Tony Markellis in late April and on through the introduction of new bassist Dezron Douglas, saxophonist James Casey‘s cancer diagnosis, substitute saxophonist Cochemea Gasteulm‘s prior engagement in Boston, Hartswick’s positive test ahead of a two-night North Carolina run, the subsequent nixing of the horn section, Lawton’s positive test in Columbus, and Fishman’s addition, the Trey Anastasio Band lineup has seemingly shifted on a weekly basis in 2021.

Now, audiences at Pittsburgh, PA’s Stage AE (9/29), Washington, D.C.’s The Anthem (10/1), and New York, NY’s Radio City Music Hall (10/2, 10/3), will get to catch yet another never-before-seen TAB lineup featuring Trey Anastasio (guitar/vocals), Jon Fishman (drums), Dezron Douglas (bass), Ray Paczkowski (keys), and Cyro Baptista (percussion).

Of note, in addition to Anastasio and Fishman’s decades-long relationship as members of Phish, the pair also toured with Paczkowski as part of Ghosts of the Forest in 2019. They later revived the group for the fifth week of 2020’s The Beacon Jams.
