Radiohead guitarist and keyboardist Jonny Greenwood has shared a new instrumental entitled “Licorice Pizza”. Produced by Graeme Stewart, Greenwood wrote the piece for the Paul Thomas Anderson film of the same name.

Starring Alana HaimCooper HoffmanSean PennTom WaitsBradley Cooper, and Benny SafdieLicorice Pizza is set in San Fernando Valley in 1973. The film follows high schooler Gary Valentine (Hoffman) and a young professional named Alana Kane (Haim), who become friends, start a company together, audition for acting roles, and involve themselves in a mayoral campaign throughout the coming-of-age comedy-drama.

The magnetic and rousing three-minute orchestral instrumental begins with lightly plucked string instruments. Carrying a moderate tempo, “Licorice Pizza” introduces more layers of sound as the song progresses until its apex delivers a charismatic wall of sound.

Licorice Pizza is currently airing in select theaters, including the Regency Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, as well as the Lincoln Square 13 AMC TheatreVillage East, and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Brooklyn 7 in New York, NY. The film will hit theaters nationwide on December 25th.
