Soulful singer/guitarist Judith Hill on Friday continued the rollout of her forthcoming album, Baby, I’m Hollywood, with the release of the album’s title track and a stylish, black-and-white music video to go along with it. The disco-rock anthem marks the second single to be released from the album following “Americana“. Baby, I’m Hollywood is due out on March 5th via The Regime.

A disco-rock anthem with an undeniable “feeling yourself” aura and a cathartic, sing-along chorus, “Baby, I’m Hollywood” seems destined to be a future karaoke staple. Within the upbeat track, however, lies a deeper, more fraught storyline.

“‘Baby, I’m Hollywood!’ personifies Hollywood as a woman,” the Grammy-winning Hill explains of the track. “The music captures her free spirit, yet lyrically, it underlines the pain she has endured. It is very much a reflection of my life and how it has been growing up in the entertainment business. The show must always go on and yet you learn how to put your pain in the songs…. that is what makes the stage so visceral and alive. Beyond the lights and glamour, there is depth. I wanted to show that side of Hollywood and give the word a different feeling.”

The black-and-white video for the track lends itself to that plurality as Hill rapidly shifts back and forth between the glamorous, Hollywood exterior and the disheveled, inherently flawed human being below the surface.

To promote her new album, Hill has sponsored a contest offering five lucky winners private vocal lessons. Those who wish to enter can fill out and submit an entry form before the release of her album on March 5th. Details for the contest can be found here.
