Julien Baker recruited her boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers for the latest single to appear on her forthcoming Little Oblivions studio album, “Favor”. The track was released via Matador Records on Wednesday.

The new song from Baker, which follows her previously-shared singles “Faith Healer” and “Hardline”, hears Dacus and Bridgers on backing vocals throughout the 4:38-minute acoustic guitar-driven song. According to Dacus, the vocal parts for “Favor” were recorded in Nashville on the same day that the trio recorded their parts for Bridgers’ “Graceland Too”, which appeared on her 2020 Grammy-nominated Punisher album.

“Julien is one of those people whose opinion you want to hear about everything,” Bridgers also said of Baker’s new song. “A true critical thinker with an ever-changing and ridiculously articulate worldview. Her music changes in the same way, and this record is my favorite thing she’s ever done. I’m sure I’ll think the same about the next one.”

The 12-track Little Oblivions will be Baker’s first full-length studio effort since 2017’s Turn Out The Lights. Scheduled to arrive on February 26th via Matador, the album was recorded in Baker’s hometown of Memphis, TN between December 2019 and January 2020 prior to the shutdown of the live music industry last March. The album is available for pre-order here.
