Khruangbin topped Billboard‘s “Emerging Artists” chart for the first time this week thanks to their newest EPTexas Sun, which saw the Houston-based trio collaborate with fellow Texan, Leon Bridges.

The “Emerging Artists” chart measures an artist’s activity across the other Billboard rankings and tracks music consumption metrics of album sales, track sales, radio airplay, streaming numbers, and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly ranking of artist popularity. The chart also excludes those who have reached the Top 25 on either the “Hot 100” or “Billboard 200.”

The move to number one replaced Trevor Daniel, as his single “Falling” hit the top 25 of the “Hot 100”.

Khruangbin, which loosely translates to “airplane” in Thai, also soared on other charts this week. Texas Sun rose to No.1 on “Americana/Folk Albums,” No. 2 on “Vinyl Albums,” No. 4 on “Top Rock Albums,” and No. 6 on “Top R&B Albums.”
