Australian rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard simply cannot be stopped.

On Friday, the band released their previously-announced Live in San Francisco ’16 concert album via ATO Records, which chronicles their performance at The Independent in San Francisco, CA in 2016. The 13-track album marks the band’s second live release of 2020, following the arrival of their Chunky Shrapnel live album and concert film back in April.

To make the start of the weekend even better for their fans, King Gizzard also released a new, 10-song studio album, K.G. On the new album, which marks their 16th full-length studio effort since forming 10 years ago, the band abandons its intense, hard-rock sound in exchange for a wider melodic palette, notably utilizing quarter-tone tuning and notation from microtonal scales often heard in Indian classical music. The combination of their psychedelic styles mixed with Eastern influences makes this new release quite the mesmerizing listening experience. According to a press announcement, K.G. will be available for purchase on CD on December 4th, and on vinyl on December 11th.

Additionally, the band has also released their music video for “Intrasport”, one of the new original songs featured on K.G. The video’s storyline follows the bandmembers who engage in party-like shenanigans inside a small apartment setting.

“The clip was shot in my tiny studio apartment. For the main reason that it’s the smallest place I know that someone lives in,” singer/guitarist Stu Mackenzie says of their new video. “The aim was to find the 50/50 split: feeling lonely at a party but surrounded by people. Feeling like you are the only one there and that nobody really understands you (but you still have to bring it). I used 35mm anamorphic to give the small space as much panoramic effect as I could muster. Sometimes the smallest of spaces feel huge when you are partying, why do you think everyone always gathers in the kitchen or bathroom?”
