The Kinks’ Ray Davies Was Knighted By The Queen Of England

Congratulations to Ray Davies… or should we say Sir Ray Davies! The guitarist/vocalist of The Kinks was knighted by the Queen of England as part of her New Year Honours list, recognizing his career in the arts.

Davies told the BBC, “Initially I felt a mixture of surprise, humility, joy and a bit embarrassed but after thinking about it, I accept this for my family and fans as well as everyone who has inspired me to write.”

He joins an elite list of British rock musicians to be knighted, including Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Mick Jagger.
