Rock ‘n’ roll legends and kings of the night time world KISS have announced their final shows ever—and they’re serious this time.
The band has spent the past few years on a worldwide farewell tour, its second after deciding to the return to road following a farewell tour with the four original members in 2000–2001. The current End of the Road Tour has been extended several times as fans have eagerly awaited the announcement of the band’s final shows, which are set to take place where it all began, in New York City at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, on December 1st and 2nd.
“KISS was born in New York City. On 23rd Street. Half a century ago. It will be a privilege and honor to finish touring at Madison Square Garden, 10 blocks and 50 years from where we first started,” said the band.
Along with KISS’s final MSG shows, the band announced additional North American tour dates that will begin at the Moody Center in Austin, TX on October 29th and carry the band through November with shows at the iconic Hollywood Bowl and arenas throughout the West Coast, Canada, the South, and Midwest. The shows will culminate with the band’s last-ever performances, where KISS will put on the makeup for the final time.
KISS appeared on SiriusXM‘s the Stern Show to confirm that this latest batch of tour dates will indeed be the band’s last. Founding members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, who are 70 and 73, respectively, sat down with host Howard Stern (69) to reflect on aging, their 50-year partnership, the physical toll of rock ‘n’ rolling all nite and partying every day into your 70s, and more. The band then performed songs including “Detroit Rock City”, “Shout It Out Loud”, and “Rock and Roll All Nite”. Click below to watch clips from KISS’s appearance on the Stern Show.
