Get in loser, we’re covering Robert Johnson. On Tuesday, Kitchen Dwellers shared an intimate cover of “Come In My Kitchen” with Lindsay Lou recorded in the back of a tour van as part of the Small Songs YouTube series.
By nature of the touring vessel’s cozy confines, Joe Funk is relegated to wheelman as he relinquishes his bass. The trio of Torrin Daniels (banjo), Shawn Swain (mandolin), and Max Davis (acoustic guitar) instead mounts a slow, bluesy crawl that transports their blend of mountain music down to the Mississippi Delta.
Judging by the nameplate on the dressing room, this video was filmed at Denver, CO’s Mission Ballroom during this month’s Denver Comes Alive. Following the taping, Kitchen Dwellers and Lou would continue their collaboration onstage, with the added assistance of Mimi Naja, on a cover of “Sound System” by Operation Ivy.
