It’s been a difficult week for Tedeschi Trucks Band and the Burbridge family, as longtime member and keyboardist Kofi Burbridge‘s health is compromised. Following his heart attack in June of 2017, the band cites a “setback” that will keep him off the road for their upcoming dates.

As the band’s announcement explains,

TTB family: unfortunately Kofi Burbridge has suffered a recent setback related to his surgery in 2017 and had to undergo a follow-up procedure last week. The doctors feel good about his recent progress and we’re hoping he’ll be out of the hospital soon, but he’ll need some time for recovery. TTB is fortunate to have a talented circle of friends/family to call on when a bandmate is in need, and renowned keyboardist Gabe Dixon made himself available to cover for Kofi while he gets better. We appreciate everyone’s best wishes for Kofi and we’re all looking forward to his healthy recovery and return to the stage where he belongs.

Just last week, Tedeschi Trucks Band announced that they will be moving on in 2019 without longtime bassist Tim Lefebvre as he focuses on a number of other musical projects. He will be replaced at the band’s upcoming January and February dates by bassist Brandon Boone, but a permanent replacement has not yet been announced.
