Have you ever been flipping through the channels and stumbled upon the various Polka Jamboree’s on public access television (try PBS), featuring some of the hottest senior talent on the market? Well, if you have then you could probably use your imagination when listening to Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic and Guns n’ Roses’ Duff McKagan on accordion and bass, respectively, take on a cover of GnR’s “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

McKagan was in Seattle to discuss his new book, How To Be A Man (and other illusions), with Novoselic at the Neptune Theater. Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready was also on hand, introducing McKagan at the beginning of the session. After a discussion, the two bassist’s decided to have a go at covering the track off of GnR’s 1987 album, Appetite for Destruction. What transpired was a polka-inspired throwdown of epic proportions, with Novoselic taking on the guitar and vocals parts of the song on his accordion (check it out below).

Anytime you hear this song you will now think of Grandpa Peter and Grandma Peggy getting down to some Guns n’ Roses on polka night at the local VFW.
