Lake Street Dive reached into the archives for a rooftop performance of The Beatles‘ “Two Of Us”. The Let It Be cover comes from the band’s October 2020 Lounge Around Sounds Variety Hour.

Though he was still in Lake Street Dive at the time, this performance does not feature guitarist Mike “McDuck” Olson. Instead, there are stand-ins both figurative and literal. A cardboard cut-out of the multi-instrumentalist who announced his departure from LSD last May after 16 years of service joins the band in lieu of the musician himself. Additionally, singer and guitarist Vilray—a musical partner of singer Rachael Price—adds six-string accompaniment.

The strength of this “Two Of Us” cover comes from Lake Street Dive’s all-star stable of singers. Lead vocalist Price does her best Paul McCartney and keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss adds airy backing vocals. Drummer Mike Calabrese rounds out the trio of voices while Bermiss imitates the song’s guitar hook on his keyboard.

Watch Lake Street Dive cover The Beatles’ “Two Of Us” from a rooftop back in October 2020. The band is gearing up for a run of Southeast shows set to begin on March 3rd in Savannah, GA. For tickets and a full list of tour dates click here.
