Amazon Music has shared a clip of “tonite” from All My Friends, the forthcoming LCD Soundsystem Christmas special set to premiere tonight, December 22nd, on Prime Video. The Eric Wareheim-directed special has been described as one part sitcom, and one part career-spanning live performance.
This live rendition of “tonite” sees the band performing the 2017 american dream track in all its glory, replete with pulsating synthesizer lines, rollicking drums and percussion, and sprawling vocals from frontman James Murphy. Nancy Whang adds some colorful piano melodies while several members of the group, including drummer Pat Mahoney, add symphonic backing vocals as Murphy brings “tonite” to its climactic ending.

The 90-theme sitcom portion of the programming will star Warheim as James Murphy, Macaulay Culkin (Pat Mahoney), Jon Daly (Tyler Pope), Christine Ko (Nancy Whang), Cory Loykasek (Al Doyle), and more.
“I’ve already conquered film, James has conquered music, but we have yet to conquer the sitcom—the highest form of art,” said Warheim in a statement to Rolling Stone. “We’ve been working on this project for 15 years, and for this show, we’re unveiling a uniquely emotional perspective of the sitcom universe for the holidays—provided by one of the greatest bands of all time and my dear friends, LCD Soundsystem. I can’t believe Amazon Music is letting us do this.”

In other LCD news, the band recently canceled its three remaining performances at New York City’s Brooklyn Steel, due to the COVID-19 Omicron outbreak. The rocktronica outfit was set to complete a 20-show residency at the venue on December 19th–21st, but canceled after enough fans chose to refund tickets.
