LCD Soundsystem broke a five-year studio silence on Friday with a new single, “New Body Rhumba”. The track, set to appear in Noah Baumbach’s film White Noise, arrives alongside the announcement of another 20-show Brooklyn Steel residency set for November and December.

“New Body Rhumba” signals the art-rock ensemble’s first new release since its 2017 album, American Dream. The sprawling seven-minute single makes up for lost time as frontman James Murphy leads the band through a straight-ahead dance before the rest of the group breaks open the texture for a four-minute minimalist odyssey. The track will appear in Baumbach’s adaption of Don DeLillo’s 1985 novel White Noise, due to hit theaters on November 25th and Netflix on December 30th.

LCD Soundsystem will return to New York City for another residency at Brooklyn Steel, with shows on November 18th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th as well as on December 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th, and 17th. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 7th at 10 a.m. ET following a fan pre-sale on Thursday, October 6th at 10 a.m. ET.

This announcement comes after LCD Soundsystem was forced to cancel the final three shows of its last 20-show Brooklyn Steel residency in December 2021 due to rising COVID cases due to the Omicron variant. The seven-piece Brooklyn-based band’s relationship with Brooklyn Steel stretches back to the venue’s inception when it opened in April 2017 with a run of five sold-out LCD Soundsystem concerts.
