LCD Soundsystem returned this week with the band’s first new track since 2022, “X-Ray Eyes”. Though not yet officially released on streaming platforms, the Brooklyn art-pop band premiered the track on NTS Radio‘s Soup to Nuts w/ Anu.
“X-Ray Eyes” displays a return to form for LCD Soundsystem, with the song’s techno-infused minimalism reminiscent of the group’s early days. Buzzy synths bounce along a rudimentary backbeat as James Murphy drones, “I’ve got eyes that can see inside / I can see right through your disguise” for a sound that’s welcoming and nostalgic. The track marks LCD Soundsystem’s first new release since “new body rhumba” from the soundtrack to the Netflix adaptation of Don DeLillo‘s 1985 novel White Noise. The group’s last album, American Dream, arrived in 2017.
As of publication time, the only way to hear “X-Ray Eyes” by LCD Soundsystem is on the aforementioned Soup to Nuts episode at the 20-minute mark. Listen here or via the player below.
