Perhaps inspired by his Arcade Fire colleaguesLCD Soundsystem’s own James Murphy is bringing his passion for wine to Williamsburg next month. Along with his wife, Christina Topsoe, Murphy will open The Four Horsemen in early June, at 295 Grand Street. The bar will offer over 160 selections with plans to expand to upwards of 350 in the future.

Murphy was introduced to fine wine by Justin Chearno, and the two will be co-curating the wine list. While they’re focusing on “natural wines,” Murphy told the New York Times, “We’re not dogmatic… Like, we don’t want to be part of an argument. If I opened a record store, it wouldn’t be all punk rock and esoterica.”

The Four Horseman will also feature a menu by Nick Curtola, chef of Franny’s in Brooklyn. They want to focus on the wine though, saying “We keep calling it a wine bar because we want to underpromise and overdeliver,” he said. “It has to be economically sustainable. It’s not a vanity project.”

Of course, Murphy will still be an active musically, but this business venture certainly seems to be calling to his passion for wine. When asked why he’s opening the restaurant in the first place, Murphy joked, “I need something with really low margins, high risk, brutal hours and which I have no experience at.”
