On Thursday night, neo-soul and gospel torch-bearer Leon Bridges made his way to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to show off, a track from his new album, Good Thing, released this past May via Columbia Records. The song, “Beyond”, was written by Bridges along with Justin Tranter, Ricky Reed, Nate Mercereau, and Niles City Sound, which is composed of Austin Jenkins and Josh Block. Leon Bridges’ fame, in part, comes from his gorgeous, silky voice paired with his consistently nostalgic and longing sound. Unsurprisingly, “Beyond” falls in line with this traditional soulful sound, with the singer serving up a beautiful ballad about the possibilities of a future with his lover.
