In other lespecial news, drummer Rory Dolan recently got called up to the big leagues to audition for Primus following the sudden departure of Tim “Herb” Alexander. Video clips from the so-called “Interstellar Drum Derby” show that the competition is stiff, with Nikki Glaspie, Thomas Pridgen, and Thomas Lang also among the serious contenders, but Dolan has received a groundswell of support from fans who feel his experience with lespecial makes him a shoo-in for the position given the band’s history of covering Primus and the stylistic similarity between the two trios. lespecial has expressed support for Dolan as well, assuaging concerns that if he is chosen to tour with Primus, it would spell doom for lespecial.
