Lettuce has shared a new live video for “Checker Wrecker”, filmed at Stubb’s Austin in Austin, TX back on January 24th. The video comes just one week after the funk band released the official video for “Checker Wrecker”, which featured Go-Go legends Big Tony Fisher and Tyrone “Jungle Boogie” Williams.

“Checker Wrecker” bridges the gap between funk and hip-hop with a deep bassline groove from Erick “Jesus” Coomes laid upon a driving drum beat from Adam Deitch. The horn section of Ryan Zoidis and Eric Bloom plays well with melodic interpolation from Nigel Hall‘s keyboard phrases and Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff‘s guitar. Around the halfway point, the go-go influences peek through as Hall, Coomes, and Zoidis sing “Somebody told me that there’s a party going on in here”, setting up an envelope-filtered solo from Smirnoff that builds back to the song’s main progression. “That’s my man, Adam Smirnoff, on guitar,” says Hall as they close the song. “What a mench!”
