On Monday, June 24th, Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ Other Side is set to host a pop-up edition of Live For Live Music‘s The Funk Sessions featuring Lil Baby Jesus Peasant Party, the experimental, improv-centric side project of Lettuce bassist Erick “Jesus” Coomes.
The special Baby Jesus Peasant Party edition of The Funk Sessions will feature Jesus alongside his Lettuce bandmates Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet) and Ryan Zoidis (saxophone), his brother, Tycoon (drums), and Break Science’s Borahm Lee on the keys.
Lil Baby Jesus’ Peasant Party will also act as a launch party for Sauvage Selections Natural Wine, Zoidis and Blooms new Colorado-based natural wine distribution company. Sauvage Selections works exclusively with small, family-owned wineries that farm organically or biodynamically, without the use of artificial chemicals or pesticides. Sauvage Selections Natural Wines are made using traditional winemaking methods with low intervention in the cellar, so their wines are naturally fermented, handcrafted, and untamed.
In a 2018 interview with interview with Live For Live Music, Jesus Coomes and Ryan Zoidis shared their affection for having natural wines on tour and how they help the band prepare for their sonic explorations.
Jesus explained, “It’s more of a celebratory thing. We usually drink them after the shows. But yes, lots of natty wines!”
Zoidis added, “It’s really just treating ourselves to premium stuff, and we are learning about it too. Learning is a big part of why we love it. And it is fueling the music too, and you know, the hangs, man…”
