Lotus has shared “Bjorn Gets A Haircut”, the second single from the group’s forthcoming album Free Swim, out on August 21st via Lotus Vibes Music. The song, and its accompanying music video, join previously-released track “Catacombs“.

Next month will see the veteran live act’s return to the stage for the first time following the complete shutdown of live music in response to the global pandemic. On September 4th, Lotus will perform in the parking lot of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA as part of Live Nation‘s Live In / Drive In concert series.

The music video for “Bjorn Gets A Haircut” features a mix of in-studio performance footage with pixelated animations. Along with the rest of Free Swim, “Bjorn Gets A Haircut”, both the song and visual accompaniment, were filmed at Spice House Sound in the band’s native Philadelphia. With a mix of classic Lotus groove-oriented song structure alongside sampled vocal accompaniments, “Bjorn Gets A Haircut” presents itself as the band’s classic formula with some modern advancements.

“‘Bjorn Gets a Haircut’ is a head-bopping cosmic disco tune,” keyboardist/guitarist Luke Miller said. “It takes cues from the Nordic disco playbooks of producers like Todd Terje and Lindstrom. The main hook is a Mellotron vocal ‘Oh’ patch leading into a chorus of slick chromatic chord changes on the piano. The guitar takes over in the middle for an improvisatory freeride.”
