In mid-July, Camp Bisco returned with a vengeance, taking over Scranton, Pennsylvania’s Montage Mountain for three wild nights. With The Disco Biscuits hosting the festival and performing six sets, Camp Bisco reflects the band’s sensibilities, bringing together high-profile artists from both the jam and electronica scenes. Of course, live jamtronica was well represented at the festival this year, with other improv-oriented, electronic-inspired live bands like STS9 and Lotus also making the cut for this year’s headliners alongside high-profile DJs and producers like Bassnectar, Excision, and Tipper.
Both Lotus and Colorado’s electrofunk trio SunSquabi were on hand at Camp Bisco this year, both of whom are veterans of the nationally renowned music festival. Late night on Friday (technically Saturday morning), the two fan-favorite acts teamed up for a special collaborative improv set for Camp Bisco’s VIP attendees. Reflecting both band’s penchant for stretching jams and savoring funk-fueled grooves, Lotus and SunSquabi’s joint set was a welcome performance for fans at Camp who leaned more heavily toward the jam side of things.
You can check out an hour-fifteen-minute video from Lotus and SunSquabi’s joint VIP set at Camp Bisco 2018 below, which was shot and edited by Sam Silkworth of Silky Shots with sound mixed by Ryan Dell. Enjoy!
