In this take on the track from Charles’ 1972 self-titled debut record, Nelson and POTR slow things down a bit with the blues shuffle. With bassist Corey McCormick donning an upright acoustic bass, the whole air of the performance takes on a classy, understated tone. As Nelson provides brief-but-potent guitar phrasings between lyrics, piano player Logan Metz serves as a focal point. The baton is soon passed to Nelson, however, as he brings the song home with more concentrated guitar work as he is able to explore the musical space.
