Mac DeMarco continued his annual tradition of releasing a holiday-inspired cover on Monday with his new take on Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane‘s wintertime classic, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.

The soft, synth-led recording hears the indie-rock singer ease listeners through the familiar melody and lyrics, with some subtle-but-appropriate additions of bells to go with a sturdy rhythm section. For the song’s video, DeMarco enlisted the help of his friend Dan Streit, who captured the singer performing the tune in an outdoor setting alongside a large inflatable Santa Claus. At least there are no pig-people this time around.
