Maggie Rogers has released a collection of songs that were written/recorded prior to her breakthrough success on her new Notes From the Archives: Recordings 2011-2016 compilation, released this past Friday via Debay Sounds.

The 16-track album hears a young and ambitious Rogers explore songs and styles ranging from indie rock to alt-pop, and showcases the young songwriter’s raw abilities prior to being discovered by Pharrell Williams in the now-famous viral video captured during Rogers’ time as a student at New York University in early 2016.

Six of the tracks featured on Notes From the Archives have never been released until now, while the 10 other newly-remastered recordings first appeared on Rogers’ Blood Ballet (2014) and The Echo (2012) albums. Rogers’ early-career works treat fans to an unpolished young artist still in the earliest stages of her creative development, and this album offers an intimate snapshot at documenting the start of her journey up the ranks of showbusiness. Rogers has since gone on to reach mainstream success with a hit debut album in 2019’s Heard It in a Past Life, and recent appearances on Sesame Street and this year’s virtual National Democratic Convention. She was even invited to join Dead & Company on stage at Madison Square Garden during the band’s Halloween run in 2019.
